Rules & Policies

As a member of Yackandandah Riding Club, it is your responsibility to be familiar with the rules and guidelines of HRCAV. You can find theses at hrcav.com.au

Code of Conduct

The YRC Code of conduct outlines the requirements YRC members are expected to follow in regard to their conduct and behaviour when participating in all club sanctioned events. The committee reserves the right to cancel membership if a member breaches the HRCAV or YRC Codes of Conduct.

  • The well-being of the horse must be considered paramount.

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in equestrian regardless of gender, ability, sexual orientation, age, cultural background or religion.

  • Be fair, considerate, honest and act appropriately in all dealings. Be professional in, and accept responsibility for your actions.

  • Be aware of, and comply with HRCAV and YRC rules and policies.

  • Assist in providing a safe and inclusive environment for the elimination of all forms of violent and abusive behaviour and harassment.

  • Club activities and events will be subject to COVID restrictions in place at the time and such restrictions may relate to vaccination status.

Safety

Medical armbands  The committee requests that you wear your medical armband for all rallies and in-house competitions. This is simply to ensure that should you have a serious accident, we can easily reach your emergency contact. Please ensure that you keep your emergency contact details up to date. A medical armband templete is available here.

Helmets  In line with HRCAV regulations we require members to wear approved helmets when mounted.  Current helmet requirements can be found at https://hrcav.com.au/2016/04/helmets/

Protective Vests  In line with YRC Risk Management Policy, we require members to wear accredited protective vests when using the grounds for show jumping. This includes rallies, training days and clinics. Please also check the HRCAV website for the latest policies on wearing protective vests at HRCAV events.

Injuries and Accidents  Whether at a rally, competition or training alone, if you are riding at the grounds and fall from your horse or are otherwise injured, you should report the incident to the committee and fill in an incident report. This is vital in case you need to claim on your HRCAV insurance regarding the incident. Even if it does not seem major, you may end up with long lasting effects, so please fill in the report.

On a rally or competition day a first aid officer or committee member will fill in the form for you. If riding alone, please download the form from https://hrcav.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/G22_INCIDENT-REPORT-JUNE-2020-FILL.pdf. You can fill it in online. Please also forward a copy of the incident report to the Secretary for our records.

If some other incident occurs, e.g. a horse injury, dogs causing problems etc., please report it to the committee straight away. We can only deal with incidents that we know about.
